Ariminum remains of Roman …
When the first rays of the sunset, tinged with changing lights the city , get some glimpses of breathtaking beauty .

The oldest part of the center, that “embraced ” the old fish market , with narrow streets and small local aperitif candle light , it becomes poetry in its purest form .

But at any time , wandering in the historic Rimini , is a kind of celebration . Plazas and squares are occupied by tables of the bar . And proceeding between a porch and an alley between a library and an art workshop , you will encounter a Roman monument or a Renaissance castle . If you do not have time problems , as well walk freely, following the instinct or perfume ( maybe … flat bread or roasted fish ) . But if you prefer a walk “strategic” , you begin to learn Rimini from the beginning, that is from the Roman Rimini (although the city was founded much earlier) .

We start then from the Arch of Augustus, the oldest of the surviving Roman arches . Stands in a strategic position ( marking the end of the Via Flaminia) and was commissioned by Emperor Augustus in 27 BC .

Ten minutes here is the beautiful central squares : Three Martyrs and Cavour.

Within a few meters there are two jewels of the Renaissance Rimini .

The first, the white temple Malatesta ( 1449 ) , with the front of Leon Battista Alberti, who also whitens dark : it had to be the grand mausoleum of Sigismondo Malatesta and his young lover, then his wife. A dream never realized for the downfall of Sigismund. But the temple has beautiful and many works of art by Giotto , Piero della Francesca , for example .

The second is a fortress that once lit the imagination : it is Castel Sigismondo , a symbol of the power of the Malatesta in Rimini . Carefully restored, is a container of exhibitions.

The walk ends at the sea , at the Bridge of Tiberius, the Roman bridge, so well preserved that , after two thousand years and two world wars , still bears the city traffic ! If you still have a little time , treat yourself to a visit to the Museum of the City. Even the less experienced in the history of art will enjoy the beauty of the various Giovanni Bellini and Ghirlandaio or seventeenth-century paintings by Guercino and Curs . And do not forget the archaeological section with artefacts from the Imperial Rimini .
